Hello everyone, my name is Cody Brooks and I wanted to create a tutorial blog series that would operate without the use of videos. I am by no means a "blogger" but have tons of information to share from my experience.  I have been in the web development business professionally for 10 years. I work primarily with JavaScript/TypeScript, C#, CSS/SASS, and HTML. I got into programming when I was 10 years old when I discovered a programming language called DM (Dream Maker) on a network called BYOND (Build Your Own Net Dream). It was captivating to me to write tons of lines of code and build simple to complex games. When I would get a good review it would be so rewarding. Since switching to web development, I have taken many aspects of game development with me and continue to learn each and every day.

About the Blog

Text Only Tutorials is a series of text and image based Web Development tutorials allowing you to read at your own pace and. Text/image tutorials also allow for easier copy and paste of code snippets. You also are not able to search through a video so navigation can become a problem. Text is lightweight and easily understood. This is definitely not meant to bash video tutorials and the difficult production that it takes to create them, but personally, I tend to ingest information faster when I am reading and if you are here, you probably do too!

In an MIT experiment comparing video comprehension vs reading comprehension. The hypothesis being that the video learners would outperform the text learners but they found the exact opposite. The results showed that the text group median outperformed the video group by 12.5%.

If you have a request for a tutorial please feel free to request it in the comments!
